Professional BodyBuilding

Bodybuilding’ we all know is the art of developing one’s musculature with an intent of maximizing muscle hypertrophy the best way possible. Where some men employed this to increase their muscle strength, the improvement in the aesthetics of a person’s physique led to this art becoming a world-class popular sport referred to as ‘Professional Bodybuilding’. Today professional body building involves accentuating the muscles through a combination of fat loss and body oils. Application of tanning lotions combined with proper lighting effects further makes the definition of muscle group more distinct. An imperative part of professional bodybuilding is the various competitions and contests that bodybuilders take part in to win various titles.

In the present times, in order to be considered as a professional bodybuilder, one has to qualify a number of professional as well as amateur contests along with earning a ‘Pro Card’ from the IFBB. This helps professionals earn the right to participate in prestigious competitions like the Arnold Classic and Night of Champions. After having making their presence felt at such forums, professionals are then considered eligible to contest for the highest honor in the field of professional bodybuilding known as the Mr. Olympia contest. Some other organizations which also render professional rankings include the NPA (Natural Physique Association) and NANBF (North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation). (more…)

World Bodybuilding Federation – WBF

The Rise and Fall of World Bodybuilding Federation

The World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF) is one and the only exception of its kind which was established as a rival to the International Federation of BodyBuilding (IFBB) and failed miserably owing to its ill-fate. WBF was brought into existence on January 1991 by the wrestling czar Vince Mc Mahon who was then the President of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and Titan Sports. Hence WBF was born as a subsidiary of Titan Sports operated by the WWF.

Initially it was rumored that Vince was only planning to launch a body building magazine against IFBB for which he appointed Tom Platz, one of body building’s favorite sons to oversee the publication. The magazine was supposed to be called ‘ BodyBuilding lifestyles’. However, during the 1990 Mr. Olympia contest in Chicago , Titan Sports booked an exhibitor booth in order to promote this magazine. The anticipation broke with a shock when the Bodybuilding staff walked in like Trojan horses and announced the launch of the World BodyBuilding Federation instead. Tom Platz was announced as being the Director of Talent Development for the WBF team. The intent of bringing such an organization into existence, they said, was to ‘revamp professional body building’. They also asserted of having the richest price money in the history of the sport which is what acted as the actual ‘bait’ for sportsmen to join in. (more…)

Natural Bodybuilding

The secret of Natural Body Building!
Natural Bodybuilding, like the name suggests, is a form in which bodybuilders do not employ any external substances like Anabolic Steroids, Pro hormones and Diuretics to enhance their muscle mass, a practice very common among professionals. In their terminology, such substances are considered illegal and the use of any of these can cost them heavy penalty or ban from participating in the future contests.

However, Natural Bodybuilding is a sport still adopted by many out of sheer passion to see their muscle hypertrophy boost without any aid of un-natural means.

Drug testing:
Testing bodies for the presence of any ‘illegal’ substances forms an imperative part Natural BodyBuilding contests. Such tests are mostly carried out at a national level by the National drug or Anti-doping body of the jurisdiction. These national organizations have sanctioning from the World Anti-Doping Agencies which primarily includes the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) and New Zealand Sports Drug Agency. International Federation of BodyBuilding – IFBB

For those who are ardent fans of the ever-so-popular sport of Professional Bodybuilding, the International Federation of Body Building popularly addressed as the IFBB, does not really need an introduction. For the rest, in a nutshell, this is the brand which gave birth to the highest and the most prestigious honor in the genre of pro-body building, the Mr. / Ms. Olympia title.

It was founded in 1946 by Ben and Joe Weider who wanted to render a new dimension and honor to the sport of professional body building. Female BodyBuilding Info

Bodybuilding has come up with one of the most popular and passionate sports in present times, so much so that even women have not been able to stay from it. Today female body building is as much prolific a sport as it has been for men who work tirelessly to render best aesthetic value to their bodies and prove themselves at competitive forums.

Physique competitions for women first took place in the year 1960 with the Miss Physique and Miss Americana contests. However, they were not looked upon as more than mere bikini contests and hence didn’t gain much momentum. The first true female body building competition was the U.S. Women’s National Physique Championship, promoted by Henry McGhee in 1978. This was followed by the second U.S. Women’s National Physique Championship in 1979 in which female pro-builders like Kay Baxter, Marilyn Schriner and Cammie Lusko made their presence felt. ‘The Best in the World’ and ‘The Robby Robinson Classic’ were among few other titles that came up to promote female body building. Bodybuilding with Indoor Plants Info

Bodybuilders love to breathe fresh air; it helps them maintain energy and a healthy glow. A two-year study conducted by NASA proves that houseplants clean up to 87% of the air pollutants in the air of an average home. Just as nature intended, plants in the home can filter the air that we breathe. Plants can take any stale indoor room, purify it, and renew it. The plants filter out the toxins, pollutants and carbon dioxide. That is very important to any person, like a bodybuilder, who wants to live a healthier life.

The idea of using indoor plants as natural air filters means knowing what plants are most efficient at removing toxins from the air.  Such plants include Chinese Evergreen, Spider Plants, Golden Pothos, Ficus, Gerbera Daisy, Peace Lily, English ivy and Dracaena.

Each plant filters about 100 square feet in an enclosed room. Of course, the larger the plant the more vigorous it works to filter the air. And, all you need to do is imagine which air filtering plant looks best in your selected areas. (more…)

Cholecystitis – a Threat to Bodybuilder’s Health

Extensive training often leads to development of various infectious diseases. Every bodybuilder needs to be well-informed about them in order to ensure prevention and proper treatment. As an infection travels through the body it often finds gall bladder as a perfect refuge environment. Which causes cholecyctitis. The bladder gets inflamed and aches. However, the pain in the right upper quadrant (or the right flank) can be felt only in severe cases. In the rest of cases there may be no pain, but the gallbladder will poison the bile with myriads of morbific bacteria.

Can Cholecystitis be Cured?

Cholecystitis can be completely cured, but the treatment process requires patience. The treatment takes up to 4 months and requires complete termination of physical activities for this period.

Symptoms of Cholecystitis

Usually doctors can easily diagnose if a patient has cholecystitis. The symptoms are very distinct: severe pain in the right side of the body, fever, profound sweating, nausea, vomiting. However, in bodybuilder’s case, cholecystitis may not display such vivid symptoms but lack symptoms and be rather unnoticeable. (more…)

Hair Loss and Bodybuilding Info

Everybody loses some hairs daily, for example, when combing or washing their hair, and this is a norm. But losing too much hair is a pathology and should be treated. Some start to lose hair in their twenties. The hair of others start to thin and fall out after a stress, while some people are just predisposed to hair loss and become bald gradually, as they age. Statistically men are affected by baldness much more often, than women. But what causes hair fall in men and how can it be treated?

Hair Fall Causes

About one of three men suffers from hair loss. Men are more predisposed to hair fall due to testosterone, the principal male sex hormone, which is normally present in a male’s body in larger amounts, than in a female’s one. In general hair fall can be caused by the following factors: (more…)

Sleep and Bodybuilding Info

Sleep is one of the most valuable factors in bodybuilding. Overtraining is simply a lack of rest, said Joe Weider long time ago before we were even born. Rest, sleep in particular, is essential for successful muscle building. While you are sleeping the cortisol level stabilizes and the growth hormone level increases. Under sleep deprivation you can not develop large muscles no matter how great your training program is. Once in the wakeful state, our body concentrates on the external environment; this includes work, relationships, trainings stress, and even meals. Sleep is the period, when our body gets a chance to take care of itself and treat itself from within.

Sleep and Muscle Mass

Sleep helps us recover; sleep deprivation leads to physical, intellectual, and nervous exhaustion. When you sleep too little, the catabolic processes start dominating in your body. Muscle mass is lost in the first place. The process starts from the muscle bellies flattening out and softening, and soon enough your body develops relative atrophy. As the cortisol level increases in the body, fat depositing becomes easier (as a reaction to stress), the person displays anxiety, irritability, and annoyance, and, most importantly for a bodybuilder, the testosterone level drops. Sleep deprivation has a negative effect on the overall testosterone level, as well as on the conversion of testosterone into its free form. This, in addition, leads to the loss of dry muscle mass, to lowered libido, weakened erection, and lack of attraction. (more…)
